JJ's Fence Company: San Diego's Aluminum Fence Installer
JJ's Fence Company installs aluminum fencing across Northern San Diego. Aluminum is non-combustible, so it meets Zone Zero and defensible space rules in fire hazard areas. It also holds up to coastal salt air far better than wood or steel.
Two crews do the work themselves. The people who quote your fence are the people who build it.
Every fence is black powder-coated aluminum with horizontal slats. We build gates on site.

Why Choose Aluminum Fencing?
Durability That Lasts:
Aluminum fences stand strong against San Diego's weather, resisting rust and corrosion to keep your property secure and looking great year after year.
Effortless Maintenance:
Say goodbye to constant upkeep. Aluminum fencing looks pristine with just a simple wash, freeing up your time for what really matters.
Built to Fit Your Opening:
Every fence is black powder-coated aluminum with horizontal slats. You choose the slat width and how much privacy you want. We measure and build to your run, including on a slope.
Security Without Obstruction:
Slats set tight together give you a solid fence with no sightline through it. Prefer some light and air? We can set 3/8 inch gaps between the slats instead.
Aluminum is a good fit for Northern San Diego. It does not rot, it does not rust, and in a fire zone it is one of the two materials that meets Zone Zero.

Aluminum Fence Specs
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Material | Black powder-coated aluminum. Non-combustible and Zone Zero compliant. |
| Color | Black. That is the only finish we carry. |
| Slat width | 6" or 2 1/2" horizontal slats. Gates are 2 1/2" only. |
| Long runs | We use 6" slats on long fence runs. If you want the whole front section to match your gate, we quote 2 1/2" throughout for a uniform look. |
| Privacy | Slats tight together for full privacy, or 3/8" gaps. 3/8" is the only spacing we offer. |
| Height | Up to 6', the city code maximum. We advise against going higher because the fence gets very heavy. |
| Height variance | Final height can vary by 2 to 5 inches either way. Horizontal slats cannot be cut lengthwise, so the run has to land on a whole slat. |
| Slopes | Yes. A slope install takes more time and adds cost. |
| Painting | We do not paint aluminum and we advise against it. Paint peels off a powder-coat finish. |
| Gates | Built on site. Keyed lock with two keys. Single gates only. |

Premium Aluminum Fencing Solutions at JJ's Fence Company
We carry one aluminum product, and we know it well. Black powder-coated horizontal slats, in 6-inch or 2 1/2-inch widths.
Full privacy - Slats set tight together. No sightline through the fence. This is the most common choice and the one we install most often.
3/8-inch gaps - The same slats with 3/8-inch spacing between them, for a lighter look that still screens the yard. It takes longer to install, so it costs a little more.
6-inch slats on long runs - On a long fence run, we use 6-inch slats. On one recent job, we ran 6-inch slats along the fence and 2 1/2 inch on the gate return, and it looked sharp. If you would rather everything match, we will quote 2 1/2 inch for the whole front section.
Matching gates - We build gates on site to match the fence, with a keyed lock and two keys. See the aluminum gates page for widths and details.
We do not carry vertical pickets, ornamental panels, or colors other than black. Those are special-order items with long lead times and higher prices; we are happy to quote them as requested.
FAQ's About Aluminum Fence Installations
How long will my aluminum fence last?
Aluminum fences are designed to last for decades, providing a long-term fencing solution with minimal maintenance.
Is aluminum fencing suitable for all types of properties?
We install aluminum fencing on homes across Northern San Diego. It works well on side yards, perimeters, pool enclosures, and anywhere you need a non-combustible fence in a fire zone. We focus on residential work.
Can aluminum fences be installed on sloped terrain?
Yes. A slope install takes more time to build and set, so it adds to the cost. We will tell you that at the quote, not after.

Do you install aluminum gates?
Yes. We build single aluminum gates on site for side yards, walkways, and entry points, with a keyed lock and two keys. Preferred width is 44 inches. We do not build double or driveway gates. See our aluminum gates page for the full details.
Can I paint my aluminum fence?
We advise against it and we do not offer it. The finish is black powder coat, and paint peels off it. We tried it once on a wrought iron style aluminum fence with expensive paint and it peeled almost immediately. The proper way to change the color is to send the product out to be re-powder-coated, which is costly. If you decide to paint it yourself, that is your call.
How tall can an aluminum fence be?
City code caps fence height at 6 feet, and we advise against going higher anyway because aluminum gets very heavy. One thing worth knowing up front: the finished height can vary by 2 to 5 inches in either direction. The horizontal slats cannot be cut lengthwise, so the run has to land on a whole slat.
What colors do aluminum fences come in?
Black. That is the finish we carry, and it is the one we install. Other colors are a special order with a long wait and a higher price, so we do not quote them.
