Aluminum gates we build

Walk and entry gates. Single swing gates for a yard, side yard, or pathway. This is most of what we install. Each one comes with a keyed lock and two keys.

Matching gates. A gate built to match an existing aluminum fence, or installed at the same time as a new one.

Fire-zone replacement gates. A non-combustible gate to replace a wood one inside the five-foot defensible space around your home.

We build single manual gates. We do not install double gates or automated gate systems.

Gate specs at a glance

SpecDetail
Gate styleSingle manual gates, walk or entry. No double or automated gates.
Max width44″ preferred. We can build 48″ on request. We steer people to 44″ or less because aluminum is heavy and a wider gate can sag over time.
HeightUp to 6′, the city code maximum. We advise against going higher because the gate gets very heavy.
Height varianceAluminum fence and gate heights may vary by up to approximately 2 inches due to manufacturer limitations, as horizontal aluminum slats cannot be cut lengthwise.
SlatsGate slats come in 2 1/2″ width only.
PrivacySlats tight together for full privacy, or 3/8″ gaps. 3/8″ is the only spacing we offer.
LockKeyed lock with two keys.
FitMeasured and fitted to your opening.
SlopesYes. A slope install takes more time and adds cost.
FinishBlack powder-coated aluminum. Non-combustible and Zone Zero compliant.

How much privacy you get

You choose. Slats set tight together give you a solid gate with no sightline through it. That is what most people want on a side yard, and it is the faster install.

If you want some airflow or a lighter look, we can set the slats with 3/8″ gaps. That is the only spacing we offer. Wider gaps mean a special order with a long wait, so we do not do them.

Why aluminum holds up in San Diego

Aluminum does not burn, does not rust, and does not need staining. That combination is why it works here.

The black powder-coat finish takes San Diego sun and coastal salt air without the corrosion you get from untreated steel. There is no annual upkeep. You are not restaining it every few years the way you would a wood gate.

One thing to know: we do not paint aluminum gates, and we advise against it. Paint peels off a powder-coat finish. Recoloring properly means sending the product out to be re-powder-coated, which is expensive. Black is the finish we install.

Zone 0 and fire-zone rules

If your home sits in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, California’s Zone 0 rules require non-combustible material within five feet of the structure. A wood gate does not qualify. A black aluminum gate does.

That makes aluminum the straightforward choice for the defensible space right around your house under AB 3074. If you want a lower-cost way to hit the same requirement, a wrought iron gate also qualifies, though it gives you no privacy.

HOA communities in North County

Much of North County is HOA territory, and many associations set rules on gate color, height, and style. We have worked in inland North County communities for years, including Rancho Bernardo, 4S Ranch, and Poway. We build to spec and help put the submittal together so it clears the first time.

What an aluminum gate costs in San Diego

We quote the whole thing as one written price. That covers the gate, the posts, the hardware, and the install.

What moves the number: how wide the gate is, how tall, whether it is a plain walk gate or a match to an existing fence, and whether it sits on a slope. We will walk the site and give you a real figure, not a range.

FAQ’s About Aluminum Fence Installations

Do you install automated or electric aluminum gates?

No. We build manual aluminum gates. For an automated system you would need a gate automation specialist.

Are aluminum gates Zone 0 compliant?

Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible, so an aluminum gate meets Zone Zero and defensible space requirements for the area right around your home in a fire hazard zone.

How wide can an aluminum gate be?

Up to 44 inches is our preferred width. We can build a 48 inch gate on request, but we prefer 44 inches or less because aluminum is heavy and a wider gate can sag over time.

Can you install a gate on a slope?

Yes. A gate on a slope takes more time to build and install, so it costs a bit more.

Can I paint my aluminum gate later?

We advise against it. Paint peels off a powder-coat finish. Gates are installed in black powder-coat, and recoloring properly means re-powder-coating the product, which is costly.

Can you match my existing aluminum fence?

Usually. Send a photo or let us take a look on site, and we will match the style, height, and finish as closely as the existing product allows.
